HDD Control trenner Benchmark

This benchmark test measures the performance of your hard drive. The test provides basic information such as the model, partitions and size together with various performance values. The benchmark test determines the average read performance of the chosen drive, the minimum/maximum read performance and the access time. Data packages are read from several hundred different points across the hard drive and the read performance is measured there. The read performance is measured by reading data packets from several hundred different locations on the drive.

The access time is measured by forcing the read head to move specific distances between different sectors and then measuring the travel times. As the distance to be traveled increases, so do the access times and the resulting value.

Starting a benchmark test is rather simple. Just select the hard drive by clicking on it (see red arrow) and the select the Start button (see red box).

What is shown here?

HDD Control trenner Benchmark

The graph (the green/red/yellow line, see picture below) displays the reading performance of the drive, this means the amount of data that has been read. The scattered, yellow points represent the access time, the time needed until the disk accesses to the data on the hard disk. As the distance to be traveled increases, so do the access times and the resulting value. The results of USB flash drives and solid state drives should be more linear, because these media do not contain mechanical components.
