What does the Drive Cleaner do?

HDD Control trenner Drive Cleaner

Drive Cleaner finds and deletes redundant files on your hard drives, freeing up valuable space and streamlining your system. The default settings are safe and will only find items that can be safely deleted. If you are not sure about adjusting the settings, just leave the standard settings as they are.

How to start

Like all other modules the Drive Cleaner can be accessed via the tab in the horizontal menu.

When the Drive Cleaner deletes something, the objects are moved to the recycle bin. This way it’s still possible to recover the objects, if necessary.

Hint: If the recycle bin is empty before you start the search, it will be easier to find object you’d like to recover.

In order to get a better overview of the results, you can sort the files according to type. This way it’s much easier to make a distinction between objects and whether they should be deleted. Just click on the drop-down list (see picture below, red box) to look at single types. To delete any redundant files just click on Delete to complete the process.

Info: The module Drive Cleaner identifies lots of redundant files on the basis of file extensions (for example *.tmp, *.bak etc.). Application software should not use such extensions for files that contain important information. However there are a few exceptions. A lot of those problem cases are excluded from deletion in the options menu Exceptions. Therefore please always take a close look at the results before deleting any files!
